We had the honour of bringing together a selection of rare vintage photographs and limited edition prints by celebrated 20th century photographers, such as Alfred Eisenstaedt, Philippe Halsman, Cecil Beaton, Bert Stern, André de Dienes, George Barris and Milton Greene who had worked with Marilyn Monroe through the years.
Hosted by longstanding client Kudos Memorabilia, the exhibition - Timeless - was held at Moyse Hall in Bury St. Edmunds in June 2018.
Given their rarity and value, all the photographs needed to be framed using conservation and acid free materials and UV filtering, low reflective glass (Clear Colour). The client wanted the frames to look classy and suit the era of the photographs, but without detracting from the image. We needed to provide continuity across the framing, and in some instances the pictures required glass backs to show the photographers stamp - its mark of provenance.
We also suggested using archival mounting corners instead of conservation tape so that if the photos needed to be removed there would be no residual adhesive on the reverse of the prints, which could affect future valuation.
We were fortunate enough to be invited along to the preview night and it was great to see all the hard work come to fruition.
