“Outstanding service, wide selection of mounts and frames, competitive pricing and consistently good advice. Highly recommended!”
— Malcolm Meeson-Smith, July 2019

Tom's Trust 'All That Glitters' Ball

One of the most pleasurable parts of the business is being able to help and support local charities, either with raffle prizes and vouchers or framing for auctions.

We were recently approached by a representative from Tom’s Trust, a local charity supporting families of children with brain tumours. They had been donated some line drawing prints of Cambridge by artist Katty McMurray. The charity wanted to have them framed, so they could be sold at auction at the All That Glitters Ball in September 2019.

There were four prints in total, each to have the same frame and mount. We chose a very simple thin aluminium frame with a dark grey wooden veneer to complement the simplicity and colour of the artwork.

Palace of Westminster Floor Tile

Laid between 1847 and 1852, these tiles were removed from the Palace of Westminster and kept for the Encaustic Tile Conservation Project. Some tiles were sold off to fund essential restoration work; our client was able to buy one and wanted to preserve and display it at home.

It had to have a deep, strong frame to accommodate the weight and depth of the tile. One of the requirements was that they wanted to see the back of the tile once framed, so the challenge was to use glass to the front and back. The final selection was a solid oak moulding, with a light cream mount to contrast the colours in the tile.
